Rumours
Here are some rumors on the 5th book as of Mid October 2000:

Barnes and Noble were selling a book called "Test Title" by Jean Auel. 
I ordered it, but later they sent me an e-mail saying they could not 
ship it or any other orders of it. It was probably it. Do you think 
Jean Auel could be stuck because she dosen't have a title?

Some people are saying there is a fifth book in France.
THIS IS NOT TRUE.
The translation for POP was 2 books.

The scene is supposidly the Dorgone Valley of France. This is where 
the Zelandonii live.

There WILL be six books altogether.

working hard on the book but won't be coming out in 2000.

THE BOOK IS COMING OUT ON APRIL 30, 2002, AND IS CALLED
THE SHELTERS OF STONE.
IN NOVEMBER, A NEW PRINTING OF COTC WAS RELEASED, CONTAINING
A SECTION FROM THE NEW BOOK.

Book 6 hasn't been released yet. 
There are a few tidbits of information I know about it though.

#1: It will be the LAST book in the series. [Waaaaa!]
	Obviously this rumour has been debunked
#2: It will take place in Europe and South Africa
	South Africa?
#3: Auel is researching it now.
	...does this qualify as a rumour?
#4: The rumor is that book 5 took so long because Jean was working on 
both at the same time. It might have been a good idea if she needed 
different kinds of research for each book, but from the same area.
